Portrait of the Month

familyportrait

It is a photographer's distinct pleasure to have a client that says,
"You are the artist, we'll go with what you think."
After many hours of thought and photographing a very cooperative family the portrait above is the result. It will be presented on a canvas about 80 inches wide by 30 inches tall. To see more samples go to McSweeney Portraits.

Expand Your Vision with Photosynth
photosynth
I am fascinated to learn how people see. How do you see the world? In one dimension, two, or three?

Photographs preserve a visual, two dimensional view of what we see at any given time. But how would your memories change or grow if those images could be turned into a more dynamic and true-to-life scene?

Microsoft's Photosynth creates an amazing and awesome visual experience. It produces 3-D image by syncing several similar photographs to create an incredible depiction of the real world.

See your images, but in a whole new way. Watch this demonstration video to learn more.

Retro-Tech - Recycled Computers
Retro-Tech is a non-profit organization that offers some pretty awesome second tier recycled computers for very reasonable prices. One of my Art Guild students was looking for a Mac but didn't have the funds for a new one. At Retro-Tech she found a G4 for $125. This computer will run many basic graphics programs very well and is a great entree into the World of Mac. The retail space for Recycling for Illinois may be found at 625 West Main Street in Peoria.

Photography Classes
Many folks ask about upcoming classes that I am teaching. I have finally remembered to promote them before they actually begin. For the Peoria Art Guild I will be teaching traditional B&W photography and basic Photoshop classes beginning in early March. If you are interested please e-mail me, for information on more Peoria Art Guild classes e-mail the most awesome Erin Robert.

Exhibition Opportunity for Illinois Artists
If you have artwork that has been created from materials that are reused, repurposed or found, you may have the opportunity to be featured in a new exhibit, "Lost and Found." The Springfield Art Association is sponsoring a call for entries for the the 2009 Illinois Artist Invitational. Please review the attached flier for more information and an entry form.
